Join us on this breathtaking journey through Portugal, Spain, and France. Visit the main shrines of Our Lady: Fatima, Lourdes, Zaragoza, and Montserrat. Also visit sites related to St. Teresa of Avila and St. Ignatius of Loyola, the magnificent cathedrals of Salamanca and Burgos, and much more! ITINERARY


Day 1. Monday, April 15: Transatlantic flight to Lisbon

Day 2. Tuesday, April 16: Lisbon – Santarem – Fatima

Upon arrival into Lisbon, travel north to visit the site of the Eucharistic Miracle of Santarem. Continue on to Fatima to visit the Chapel of Apparitions and the Basilica of Fatima that houses the tombs of Jacinta, Francisco, and Lucia. Tonight, enjoy a welcome dinner and overnight in Fatima. (WD)

Day 3. Wednesday, April 17: Fatima

Make the Way of the Cross on the path from Cova de Iria to Aljustrel, following the way that the little shepherds used to take. After arriving, visit Aljustrel, the shepherds’ town. Return to Fatima for some leisure time. Dinner and overnight in Fatima. (BB, D)

Day 4. Thursday, April 18: Fatima – Salamanca

Early this morning, travel to Salamanca. Have a walking tour of downtown Salamanca with visits to the new and old Cathedrals, the Shrine of the Virgen de la Vega, patroness of Salamanca, and the Episcopal Palace. Dinner and overnight in Salamanca. (BB, D)

Day 5. Friday, April 19: Salamanca - Excursion to Alba de Tormes And Avila.

Journey towards Avila, stopping on your way at Alba de Tormes to visit the museum/convent of the Carmelite Mothers where St. Teresa’s remains are kept. Continue to Avila and admire its preserved medieval wall. Visit the church and museum of St. Teresa, built in the house where she was born. In the afternoon, visit La Encarnacion Monastery where St. Teresa lived for more than 20 years. (BB)

Day 6. Saturday, April 20: Salamanca – Burgos

Travel northeast towards Burgos and visit its majestic Cathedral, one of the most beautiful cathedrals in Spain. It houses the tomb of El Cid. The rest of the afternoon is at leisure for you to explore Burgos on your own. Dinner and overnight in Burgos. (BB, D)

Day 7. Sunday, April 21: Burgos – Loyola – Lourdes

This morning, travel to Loyola and visit St. Ignatiu’s house and the main Jesuit Order Shrine. After lunch, continue on to Lourdes to participate in the Rosary procession. Dinner and overnight in Lourdes. (BB, L, D)

Day 8. Monday, April 22: Lourdes

Morning at leisure for baths and personal devotions at the Grotto in Lourdes. In the afternoon, take a walking tour of the places related to St. Bernadette. Before evening Mass, pray at the Stations of the Cross. Dinner and overnight in Lourdes. (BB, D)

Day 9. Tuesday, April 23: Lourdes – Zaragoza

Spend the morning in Lourdes at leisure. Early in the afternoon, cross the Pyrenees and head to Zaragoza, Spain. Upon arrival, visit Zaragoza’s Cathedral, one of the most beautiful churches in Spain with magnificent side chapels. Render homage to St. Dominguito de Val and St. Pedro Arbues buried in their side chapels. Dinner and overnight in Zaragoza. (BB, D)

Day 10. Wednesday, April 24: Zaragoza – Monserrat

Make a morning visit to the magnificent Our Lady of the Pillar Basilica, the place where Our Lady asked St. James the Apostle to build a shrine in her honor. Enjoy the rest of the morning at leisure. In the early in the afternoon, travel to the Shrine of Our Lady of Monserrat. Dinner and overnight at Monserrat Abbey. (BB, D)

Day 11. Thursday, April 25: Monserrat - Afternoon excursion to Manresa

Spend the morning in Montserrat Abbey. After a guided sightseeing tour, take time on your own to explore the shrine. In the afternoon, travel to Manresa to visit the cave where St. Ignatius of Loyola wrote his Spiritual Exercises. Return to Montserrat Abbey for a farewell dinner and overnight. (BB, L, FD)

Day 12. Friday, April 26: Homebound Flight

Transfer to Barcelona airport for your flight back to the US. (BB)

Fr. Therasian SSPX

CHAPLAIN


Father Therasian Babu Xavier hails from Palayamkottai, India. He is from a traditional Catholic family whose ancestors were once baptized by the great missionary, St. Francis Xavier. After his high school graduation in 2002, he entered St. Thomas Aquinas Seminary and was ordained on June 17, 2011. Since then, he has been stationed in his homeland, India. Father was appointed as Superior to the SSPX Mission in India in 2014, and he is also responsible for the SSPX’s only orphanage. Fr. Therasian is looking forward to accompanying this Marian pilgrimage.

Rooms in double occupancy are for two people to share; they have two twin beds or one double bed. Rooms in single occupancy have a single bed and are for one person to occupy; a “single supplement fee” is added for single occupancy rooms.

FLIGHT SCHEDULE


The group air reservation was made with American Airlines (AA). The outgoing flight to Lisbon (LIS) departs from Philadelphia (PHL) airport. Please do not purchase air tickets to (PHL) until we notify that the group is fully formed with a minimum of 30 travelers. The group air schedule could undergo minor changes from the airlines; if a major change occurs, we will modify the listed flight schedule.

  • Flight AA258 APR15 departs PHL at 9:15PM, arrives LIS at 9:05AM APR16

  • Flight AA743 APR26 departs BCN at 9:40AM, arrives PHL at 12:40PM APR26

 

TRIP PACE


 

The pace for this pilgrimage is “on the go”.. There is daily walking and standing. Pilgrims must be in active enough condition to walk 3-4 hours and stand for 2-3 hours per day. We strongly recommend preparing oneself by walking before the trip, building up to at least 2-3 miles per day.

Sometimes walking is up or down slopes, and at times sidewalks and terrain will be uneven. Pilgrims must have full mobility and be able to climb several stairs, since many of the visited places have no other access. A certain pace must be kept by all pilgrims in order to cover the scheduled sightseeing. Some days may have several hours on the motor-coach.

  • Non-refundable deposit of $250 pp is due by: February 20, 2024
